Height & Weight Limits for Sea Kayaking Treks
And BSA High Adventure Programs

Each participant in a Sea Kayaking Trek must not exceed the maximum acceptable limit in the weight-for-height chart below. The right-hand column shows the maximum acceptable weight for a person’s height in order to participate in the trek. Those who fall within the limits are more likely to have an enjoyable and safe experience. The trek involves strenuous open water kayaking and carrying loads. Possible extreme conditions in a true wilderness area are factors on all treks.

Participants will go through a medical re-check before the trek departs. Those who do not pass will not be allowed on the trek. Any expenses incurred as a result of nonparticipation are the responsibility of the participant.

The maximum acceptable weight for individuals 6' 7" or taller is 295 pounds. This limit is necessary due to limitations of rescue equipment and for the safety of rescue personnel.
